Abstractions, 1974–2011
Canvases painted from 1974 to 2011. The oils of the 1970s to the 1990s first seek to paint space, after figurative beginnings: the abstraction becomes geometric, sometimes starts from an object or incorporates newspaper collage, and music, writing and speech run through the titles (Jazz, Musique de nuit, Les maisons d’écrivains). From 2008, acrylics on canvas, sometimes mixed with sand or corrugated cardboard, carry an abstraction of gesture.
